Orlanda Broom is a British artist known for her landscape paintings, characterised by an expressive use of colour and an experimental approach to materials. She completed an MA in Fine Art through Winchester School of Art in Barcelona in 1997. After extended periods living in Portugal and London, she is now based in the South East of England.

Her layered compositions draw from lush flora, wild terrains and otherworldly landscapes. The familiar motifs of floral and landscape painting become a language through which to explore nature’s capacity for growth, decay and renewal, and how these processes mirror human experience. Saturated colour and suggestive floral elements bring a playful exuberance to her work, alongside a quieter tension between control and surrender.
Her recent exhibitions include Flowers — Flora in Contemporary Art & Culture at Saatchi Gallery, The Open: Odyssey at Hastings Contemporary, Points of Encounter at &Gallery, Edinburgh, and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Previous gallery presentations include Grove Square Galleries and HOFA in London, Minima Gallery in Mykonos, and Sage Culture in Los Angeles. In 2025, she undertook a printmaking residency at Casa Lo’ol in Mérida, Mexico, alongside an exhibition at Lux Perpetua.

Broom’s commissioned work includes two murals for an NHS mental health unit in Kent through Hospital Rooms, and large-scale projects for the Four Seasons in New York and the Mandarin Oriental in London. She also develops abstract resin paintings for private and public settings. Her work is held in British and international collections.

The tension between desire and dissolution runs through her landscapes. Their abundance acknowledges forces beyond human control, allowing growth and decay to coexist within the same painted environment and making transformation a persistent condition of the work.
